Ops Insights #061 - If Your Nonprofit Was an Album

March 15, 2025 | Read Time: 5 minutes | Written by Jenny Kleintop

A great way to become more comfortable with ChatGPT is to start using it yourself. Pay attention to how others are using it and the prompts they share. The best part of this AI era is that those of us embracing it are learning openly, sharing our experiences, and helping others who may not feel as confident yet.

Here’s a quick idea you can run with: Go to ChatGPT and enter this prompt “if my nonprofit were an existing album, what would it be and why.”

➡ When it asks about your brand's personality, ask it to pull your brand from your nonprofit’s website and LinkedIn profile and drop the links in.

➡ The key with learning to use ChatGPT is being willing to interact with it like you would a human.

➡ If you want clarity on certain areas of the response or adjustments, ask for it.

➡ The more you are willing to interact with it, the more it will learn and get better for you.

For me, I asked “if my brand were an existing album, what would it be and why.” The response follows, which I didn’t love the first or second response, so I asked for additional choices. This is actually the third album choice, and I was amazed at how much it resonated with me.

A perfect album for your brand is "25" by Adele because it’s an album centered on self-reflection, growth, and transformation—much like how you help nonprofits navigate their challenges and evolve.

It carries themes of learning from the past, stepping into new opportunities, and guiding others with wisdom and encouragement. Adele’s storytelling in 25 feels like a mentor sharing heartfelt advice, which aligns with your role in coaching nonprofits to build stronger, more sustainable operations.

Here’s how it connects to your brand:

1. Coaching Through Reflection & Growth - Much of 25 is about looking back at the past, understanding lessons learned, and using them to move forward. Your work with nonprofits involves a similar process—helping organizations assess their data, operations, and fundraising strategies, then refining them for a stronger future. You guide them through that journey of reflection and transformation.

2. A Sense of Warmth & Encouragement - Adele’s delivery in 25 feels deeply personal and supportive, much like a mentor offering thoughtful advice. Your brand mirrors this tone—you’re not just providing technical expertise but also empowering philanthropy leaders with the confidence and tools to make impactful decisions.

3. Bridging the Past & Future - In songs like “When We Were Young” and “Hello,” Adele touches on the tension between nostalgia and progress. This is similar to your work, where you help organizations bridge their past operations with new, innovative solutions. You help them honor what has worked while embracing the changes needed for long-term success.

4. Resilience & Moving Forward - The album’s themes of resilience and perseverance align with how you coach and mentor leaders through challenges. You help them navigate obstacles, optimize their systems, and build sustainable practices—just as 25 is about finding strength through transitions.

5. Universal & Timeless Impact - Just like how 25 resonated deeply with audiences across industries and backgrounds, your work in philanthropy operations has a broad, lasting impact. Your insights and mentorship are not just about quick fixes—they create long-term, meaningful change for the organizations you support.

Ultimately, 25 is an album that feels like a wise, trusted mentor—guiding listeners through life’s complexities with warmth and sincerity. That mirrors how your brand helps nonprofits grow, improve, and reach their full potential.

📸 I decided to call my album Level Up

For the graphic, the follow-up prompt I used "Are you able to give me a graphic of this that I can share in a LinkedIn post?" It asked me about my color scheme and branding and I asked "Please use branding colors from my website and minimalist style".

I didn't love the first graphic so I asked "Let’s try more dynamic with bold colors" Then I took the graphic (which was pretty good for ChatGPT" and put it in Canva where I used their magic tools to make some edits. Fun way to get a quick image.

Take Action

Go to ChatGPT and enter this prompt “if my nonprofit were an existing album, what would it be and why.”

Give more information. Provide the links to your nonprofit’s website and LinkedIn page. If you have marketing collateral, drop that in too. Just remember, do not drop any sensitive information in.

Interact. Ask follow-up questions or for additional clarity. Do not take the first version as the final take. The interaction, the back-and-forth, is what gets you to the really good stuff.

Compare. See how the results compare to what you are using in marketing materials, thank you letters, outreach emails, and so on. If anything, it’s some conversation starters you could have internal or externally.

You’ve got this!

👋 See you next time,

Jenny
